Become A Volunteer Any resident of the Lyons RFPD, 18 years of age or older, (16-17 years old for cadetfirefighters), may apply for membership with the Lyons RFPD as a volunteer firefighter and/or be employed with the EMS staff. Each applicant for membership as a volunteer firefighter or cadet must attend four drills with the Lyons RFPD prior to becoming a member. Applicants will be subject to and must have an acceptable: driving record, background check, reference check and initial drug testing. After satisfactory completion of these requirements the Fire Chief will evaluate & approve or disapprove volunteer membership. Each employee applicant of the Lyons RFPD Ambulance Service must be certified with the State of Oregon as an EMT: Basic, Intermediate or Paramedic and meet all requirements for their level of certification. EMT applicants must provide copies of all required certifications to the EMS Coordinator prior to employment.
