Become A Volunteer

Any resident of the Lyons RFPD, 18 years of age or older, (16-17 years old for cadet
firefighters), may apply for membership with the Lyons RFPD as a volunteer firefighter and/or be
employed with the EMS staff.
Each applicant for membership as a volunteer firefighter or cadet must attend four drills
with the Lyons RFPD prior to becoming a member. Applicants will be subject to and must have
an acceptable: driving record, background check, reference check and initial drug testing. After
satisfactory completion of these requirements the Fire Chief will evaluate & approve or
disapprove volunteer membership.
Each employee applicant of the Lyons RFPD Ambulance Service must be certified with
the State of Oregon as an EMT: Basic, Intermediate or Paramedic and meet all requirements for
their level of certification. EMT applicants must provide copies of all required certifications to the
EMS Coordinator prior to employment. Applicants will be subject to and must have an
acceptable: driving record, background check, reference check and initial drug testing. After
satisfactory completion of these requirements
an EMT applicant must be approved by the EMS
Coordinator and Fire Chief.
